ABOUT THE SHOW
The Theatre Show began its life as The ABTT Trade Show at The Donmar Warehouse in Central London in 1978, since when it has been staged in a variety of venues including The Round House in North London and Riverside Studios in West London.
In 2015 the Theatre Show moved to The West Hall at Alexandra Palace in North London, a venue which has become the new permanent home for the show.
I was one of the original organising team and in recent years have overseen the growth of The Theatre Show as Show Director. I have witnessed extraordinary innovation and progress over the years. One thing hasn’t changed though. It is the value and relevance of The ABTT Theatre Show to the theatre industry. The community that comes together every summer needs the best possible space to make the experience a valuable one.
Unlike other exhibitions, the purpose is to raise money to fund the work of the registered charity, The Association of British Theatre Technicians. Exhibitors are effectively investing in their own industry.
It works for those who are building or equipping a venue, it works for those who put on shows, it works for suppliers promoting their products and it works for students looking for a career in the industry.
Over the past couple of years, the show poster has been designed by Tim Davies, a close friend of the late Petrus Bertschinger - a former ABTT Committee Member. Tim and Petrus worked together at The Unicorn Theatre in the early 90's.
