The Built Environment
Every building has a unique acoustic character which causes that building to be best suited only for a limited range of applications.
A hall may be designed and constructed to offer good speech intelligibility for theatrical applications or it may be constructed to compliment orchestral music or choral works.
It is very rare for a building to be well suited to all of these activities without the introduction of variable acoustics and so the opportunity to offer a variety of productions to audiences within the one hall are limited by the acoustic characteristics of that hall.
In turn this will result in restrictions being placed upon the revenue that the hall may be able to generate simply because of the difficulty of matching suitable events to the acoustics of the building and, by extension, with enthusiastic audiences.
Sound Systems UK Limited is privileged to have been appointed by Acoustic Control Systems BV of the Netherlands as the UK agent for their electro-acoustic enhancement system, which offers true variable acoustics. We are proud, therefore, to offer sales of new systems and, equally importantly, service support, development and maintenance of existing installations

The Association of Lighting Designers is the professional body representing all those who work or are interested in the creation of lighting and video design for live performance and events in the United Kingdom and around the world.
Whether you are a designer, production electrician, programmer or crew member, the ALD aims to further the art and appreciation of creative lighting design and raise the awareness of the creative use of light and images as part of the development process for performance presentations. Its members are drawn from across the fields of theatre (including Opera and Dance), Rock and Roll, corporate presentations and events, education, and manufacturing.
The ALD is the mouthpiece of the performance lighting industry and a resource for information on the wide range of lighting design topics that affect designers and technicians in all areas of the live performance lighting profession. It also provides a resource and forum for the discussion and development of artistic and creative lighting aims, an understanding and education of the process involved in lighting design, and how changing technology assists this. It promotes the art and craft by organising and supporting a number of industry awards and bursaries for students and early career development, non-professional and through to the internationally recognised practitioners.
Autograph Sales & Installations return to London’s Alexandra Palace for the annual ABTT Show and once again we’ll be sharing our experience from over four decades at the cutting edge of audio for theatre. As usual we’ll also be showing a wide range of the latest theatre-oriented products, upgrades and new software releases from Clear-Com, DiGiCo and Autograph’s own Signature Series.
We are very excited to be showing, amongst other products, the Meyer Sound Ultra X-40, that created a significant buzz throughout the industry when it launched earlier this year. It is one of a number of innovative new products from Meyer, its all-new design using technology from Meyer’s LINA system andis a worthy successor to the legendary UPA which redefined theatre sound almost forty years ago. Its compact size, lightweight design, high output, rotatable dispersion pattern, superb audio reproduction and flexible rigging options make it ideal for many contemporary applications including theatre. Alongside the Ultra X-40 we will have the 750-LFC compact subwoofer and the new UP4-Slim UltraCompact speaker, together with the MM-10 miniature subwoofer.
Wireless technology remains a hot topic following the end of OFCOM’s registration period for compensation. The focus now shifts to choosing the right products for your application and no-one is better placed than Autograph Sales & Installations to assist in making those choices. Autograph are also the only UK reseller who can offer the complete range of wireless systems and microphones from Sennheiser, Shure, Sony, DPA, Countryman and Point Source Audio, providing the broadest possible set of options for all applications.
We look forward to seeing you in London on June 5th and 6th.
